Charlie Caldwell
HSC PRESIDENT
It all started back in 2000 when our founder, Pat Hansson, established the non-profit McKinleyville Community Skatepark (now Humboldt Skatepark Collective). We have never let go of her dream. Since then, we have expanded in many ways to bring wheeled, artistic, and other recreational activities to our local communities.
I am a board member of McKinleyville Parks and Recreation Committee, McKinleyville Chamber of Commerce, assistant pastor at Church on the Rock here in McKinleyville, a Foursquare Disaster Relief Chaplain and Responder, as well as a Certified Project Manager with the Project Management Institute. My passion is to see our local youth and their families enjoying the outdoors together in our communities, spotlighting our wonderful region of redwoods, ocean, and climate to all who visit.

FOUNDER/PROJECT LEAD - MOUNTAIN BIKE TRIBAL TRAIL ALLIANCE (MBTTA)
I have been involved with Humboldt Skatepark Collective ever since I was approached by our founder and incredibly involved community member Charlie Caldwell. I was serving on the board of a local IMBA Chapter, and Charlie donated $2500 towards our new timing system with the only expectation being that the system be available for other non-profit use in the area. This act of generosity was very inspiring and I started attending HSC meetings shortly after, ultimately being voted onto our board in 2023.
Serving on this board has allowed me to reach a much broader set of user groups in our community that all enjoy outdoor/indoor sports and recreation. We empower all user groups large and small to thrive, contribute and collaborate on our projects and I appreciate this style of nonprofit management. Our initial partnerships for Mountain Bike Tribal Trail Alliance are with Two Feathers NAFS and The Warrior Institute(WI). These partners and MBTTA have very similar goals and values and it is my pleasure and honor to coach these youth athletes and share everything I have learned and enjoyed about mountain biking culture. We will be riding, trail building and racing in our community and in as many others as possible!
I have been a team rider for Adventures Edge(AE) for longer than I can remember. I'm in my second term as the Humboldt County ambassador for Specialized Bicycle Components, Inc.(SPECIALIZED). This year is my first year as an ambassador for The McKinleyvile Chamber of Commerce. I'm the NorCal/Humboldt lead for Soldiers On Singletrack (SOS), a veteran led mountain bike crew and race team. I'm an honorably discharged disabled veteran who moved to the Humboldt area to serve as a federal employee providing professional mechanical support to the USCG Air Station Humboldt Bay. I'm now too injured from my service to the US Army and USCG to serve anymore.
I now ride bikes. All bikes. All the time. I love to ride my bikes! I want more trails close to home so we can all ride bikes together in safe and progressive locations in all of our neighborhoods. I want more kids on bikes. I want more little hands in the dirt helping me create the trails that they will ride. Humboldt is beautiful, but has very little developed trail for recreation. I intend to change this with the help of our trailbuilders, riders and the next generation of riders.
Let's get building and riding!

MCKINLEYVILLE SKATEPARK LEAD
I grew up in Mckinleyville in an era when skateboarding was treated like vandalism. My friends and I would get hassled everywhere we tried to skate. Sometime around the year 2000, when I was a junior in high school, Pat Hassan organized us all together at the Village Pantry and formed what would eventually become the Humboldt Skatepark Collective. I mostly just ate French fries and let them know what we wanted a potential skatepark to look like. After graduating high school, moving on to college, and working life, I didn’t get re-involved in the collective until a couple years ago. Now I am a carpenter that tries to skate whenever I can, but mainly skate vicariously through the many talented local rippers. Can’t wait to see a Mckinleyville kid with his own pro-model someday!

Zach Caldwell
I am the son of our president and have gone to meetings with him since he first got involved 23 years ago. I was voted onto the board 2 years ago and my role is to handle the AutoCAD design for the projects that Humboldt Skatepark Collective has going on. Growing up I spent alot of my time standing sideways whether it was a skating, snowboarding or surfing, nowadays I spend most of my free time playing disc golf and helping with course maintenance and development through our local disc golf club Par Infinity as well as fundraising efforts.

Jessica Murphy
Jess Murphy grew up in San Diego enjoying all the outdoors. She moved to Humboldt County in 2012 and does not see herself leaving. She enjoys hiking the most beautiful place on earth and you may see her riding her banana yellow cruiser around Mack Town or in the Bottoms. Jess has worked in Finance for almost 25 years and loves to count those beans. She is currently the Director of Operational Analysis for The Carrington Company, a local commercial real estate firm. She joined HSC as their Treasurer in October 2022. She continues to be thrilled to be a part of an organization which puts recreation for our communities first and strives to better the lives of our youth.

Jason Orlandi
My family has been in Humboldt County since the 1870's. I have a deep sense of dedication and commitment to my community. I enjoy getting outside and racing BMX at many tracks across the western United States. I have been a member of our local Disc Golf Club for over 20 years, and I helped maintain, develop, and install many of our current courses in Humboldt County. I volunteer as a youth coach at many levels and in many sports.
In 2013, I obtained my national nursing license and began providing acute care to those in need in my community by working in local hospitals. I have worked in emergency care as well as hospital administration. My 2018 Bachelor's degree capstone project led me to focus on the health and well-being of our community through access to healthy foods and outdoor activities, and for my project, I approached Mckinleyville Community Services District about building a BMX track for our community. That is when I became connected to the Humboldt Skate Collective. The collective helped my grassroots team, McKinleyville BMX, get up and running with the goal of eventually becoming our own non-profit. We have worked side by side with MCSD in securing a multi-million dollar grant to build not only a BMX track but also a full park with basketball, pickleball, a playground, open areas, and a parking lot.
Currently, I am in the process of obtaining a Post-Masters degree as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner; I function as the lead for the McKinleyville BMX group, as well as being a board member of the Humboldt County Skate Collective. I truly appreciate all the work that the Humboldt Skate Collective does, and I am honored to be a part of the team.
